President signs law creating Victorias City General Hospital

The bill establishing the Victorias City General Hospital is now a law.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act 12070, which was authored by former Rep. Francisco Benitez of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental, on Nov. 8 and it was uploaded in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The law states that the Victorias City General Hospital will be under the direct control and supervision of the Victorias City government.

The city government will manage the Victorias City General Hospital, and prepare, in consultation with the Department of Health, a hospital development plan that is aligned with the Philippine Health Facility Development Plan, the law states.

Any future increase in bed capacity, healthcare facilities, service capability, and human resource complement shall be based on the hospital development plan.

The city government will provide the necessary funds for the establishment of the Victorias City General Hospital. The Secretary of Health shall include in the Department’s subsidy program, support for the capital outlay requirements of the Victorias City General Hospital, the law also states.*
