A total of 220 children and senior citizens of three poblacion barangays in E. B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, have availed yesterday of free medical services and free medicines at the Asenso Tumandok Medical Mission.
Held at the Brgy. 1 Poblacion court in EB Magalona, it was the first of a series of medical missions sponsored by the Office of Mayor Marvin Malacon, in collaboration with the Office of 3rd District Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez.
The beneficiaries were 112 children and 108 senior citizens from Barangays 1, 2, and 3, all situated in the poblacion. Barangay 1 had 42 children and 48 senior citizens; Barangay 2 had 20 children and 35 senior citizens, and Barangay 3 had 50 children and 25 senior citizens.
Of the 108 senior citizens, 16 availed of screenings for RBS, 13 for uric acid, and eight for cholesterol. The rest availed of free medical consultation and free medicines.
Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, represented Mayor Malacon in the activity, which was attended by Councilors Gilda Parcon, Edgardo Agravante Jr., and Isidro Gomed, Jr.

Leading the medical consultation were Dr. Marnie Grace Chu-Gajo and Dr. Larae Anne Troncillo, both of Cadiz City Health Office, Dr. Ma Cornelia Zarceno, a private practitioner, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Edmundo Janeo Jr., and LGU consultant physician Dr. Frayne Marie Tampus.
They were assisted by Municipal Health Office (MHO) nurses, midwives, and personnel, barangay officials, barangay tanods, and barangay health workers.
In a statement issued by the EB Magalona Public Information Office, it said that the MHO staff made sure the participants and the beneficiaries observed physical distancing and wearing of face masks.
Matulac, Agravante, and Gomed also turned over medical apparatus to Barangay 1 Council.*
