The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched today (November 19) two Tech4Ed Centers in Victorias City with a simple ribbon-cutting ceremony and turn-over of equipment packages for the Victorias City Public Library that will host one techno hub and another in Barangay 5 that will be housed in the barangay multi-purpose building.
Leading the turn-over program were DICT representative Cresile Lozano, project officer in Negros Occidental, Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, Councilors Junb Bantug and Derek Palanca, Barangay 5 Punong Barangay Warlito Undar, and Benjie Villa, representing the Third District Congressional Office.

Congressman Francisco “Kiko” Benitez tapped the DICT programs for the Third District and in 2018 the first Tech4Ed Center was started in Barangay 20 in Victorias City.

Tech4Ed or Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs and Economic Development is one of the DICT flagship programs implemented nation-wide and designed to establish community e-centers to provide e-government and ICT-enabled services for those with minimal or no access to information and government services. The facilities set-up in these centers are open for free use of out-school-youths, farmers, women, students, teachers and entrepreneurs with no internet access, OFWs, PWDs, senior citizens, and indigenous people.*
