The Senate approved on second reading on Thursday, August 8, its counterpart to the bill of Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) seeking to create the Victorias City General Hospital.

House Bill 8492 authored by Benitez for the creation of the hospital was approved on third and final reading in the Lower House in August last year.

“Once passed into law, residents of Victorias and surrounding areas will no longer need to travel to Silay or Bacolod to go to the hospital”, Benitez said on Friday, August 9.

Benitez thanked Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go for its passage on second reading in the Senate.

“We thank Sen. Bong Go for his steadfast support as chair of the Senate Committee on Health”, Benitez said.

“We eagerly anticipate its swift passage into law,” he added.

Once the bill is passed on 3rd reading in the Senate and reconciled with the Lower House version it will be submitted to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for signing into law.*
