The proposed establishment of the Victorias City General Hospital in Negros Occidental got the approval of Senate on second reading Thursday last week, disclosed Negros Occidental 3rd district Representative Jose Francisco Benitez.
Benitez, who authored House Bill 8492, which calls for the creation of the Victorias City General Hospital, thanked Senator Christopher Lawrence Go for his support, being the head of the Senate committee on Health.
“Once passed into law, residents of Victorias and surrounding areas will no longer need to travel to Silay or Bacolod to go to the hospital,” Benitez said.
The Victorias City General Hospital will provide Victoriahanons and nearby residents of the Third District wider access to affordable and quality healthcare, and most importantly help save lives in times of medical emergencies, the solon further said.
The hospital was approved on third and final reading in the Lower House in August last year.
Benitez also said that his constituents “eagerly anticipate its swift passage into law.”*
